M-RAC : About Us

The specific purposes of the  Metro -Richmond Chapter of the National Congress of Black Women are:

Develop a holistic approach to empower women to thrive within their communities. Areas of concentration include health and wellness, homelessness, environment, culture, financial stability, and physical and mental well being.

Encourage women to engage in non-partisan leadership activities in the educational, economic, social and political arenas-the first of which is to encourage our members to register to vote and participate in the voting process. We will engage women in voter registration, political education, forums and seminars to better project their concerns in the public arena.

Increase the number of women in leadership positions in business, the professions and the non-profit sector, as well as in appointive and elective office at all levels of government.

Develop and advocate public policy positions, which advance the educational, social, economic and political interests of African American women, their families and communities.

Empower and support minority and women owned Busineses and entrepreneurs. We will provide networking events, forums and seminars, and business to business opportunities for increase development, expansion and financial growth and stability.

Sponsor youth leadership institutes to prepare young people to practice good citizenship and to assume leadership roles in public service.

Sponsor and partner with other entities to expose Youth to career opportunities and growth potential via yearly educational events and seminars. College For Kids, College For Teens, Youth Techies, and Young Entrepreneurs (YE's)  will be developed.
